I'm looking into buying an annual travel insurance policy and have phoned Endsleigh to get clarification on whether I am eligible for their policy or not. They require you to be a permanent resident, which they define as this:
These policies can only cover permanent residents of the UK who are registered with a GP in the UK. To be considered permanently resident, you must have your main home in the UK and if in employment are registered for UK income tax.
I am currently on a Tier 1 visa but will have switched to FLR by the time I started this policy. My only home is now in the UK as I intend to settle permanently, I am registered with a GP, and am paying income tax. When I phoned to try to get clarification, the person was completely unhelpful and just read this statement to me after placing me on hold for 20 minutes. Do I really qualify for this, or is there some sort of catch they could pull out once I tried to claim down the line???
