General Food Knowledge from yankee to UK

I have been in the UK since April and have found it difficult to find food here that I like. :\\\'( I knew that there HAD to be something that I was used to from home… so one day my husband and I were in SOMERFIELD and I spotted CREAM PUFFS! I absolutely LOVE cream puffs. Before I left the states, I bought a box of Sara Lee cream puffs ;D but had to leave so quickly (as my passport came sooner that I had expected) that I didn’t get to eat them. >:( I was craving them soooo badly lol.
Anyway, I had spotted them BUT they had a different name… they were called profiteroles! I had NO IDEA. :o So… I went on about my business, feasting here on pasta and the sort… when all along I just wanted some CREAM OF WHEAT! >:( It was NOWHERE to be found… to my surprise. ::) I was thinking that there is oatmeal here so why not cream of wheat??? Wellllll it finally hit me to google “cream of wheat equivalent in the UK”… up came semolina  ::).
So… what I am getting at is, for those picky-eating American-UK citizens that are finding it difficult to come up with food that you would like “from home”… google the name but equivalent in the UK. You may very well find that what you are looking for may be called something else. Don’t give up… there is hope for us hungry yanks yet  ;)
