Seriously......three ovens and three cookie sheets...
« on: January 22, 2010, 09:40:54 PM »
We moved here and I listened to everyone's advice not to bring a cookie sheet. We bought a nice one at our first flat...pricey, but nice.

Moved into flat two and the cookie tray doesn't work...its too big. So we bought a slightly less nice cookie tray to fit in our new oven.

Fast forward to flat three....just went to bake cookies and yup...cookie tray #2 doesn't fit...it's too big. Now off to the dollar store to buy cookie tray #3

I never had this problem in the states...I bought any cookie tray I wanted and they all fit!  >:(

I dunno about that...

For my parents 40th wedding anniversary in 2008 all of us family members (cousins, kids grand kids etc) chipped in and got them a new oven.

It' was wonderful until my dad went to bake a batch of cookies in their brand spankin' new oven...yep, you guessed it...this oven fit into the space were the old oven was, but due to the amount of insulation it had, the cookie sheet didn't fit.

So, my parents returned the oven, put the old one back in and took the money and bought a 62" Flat Screen HD LCD TV and a BluRay player.

Just sayin' that it could be the different age of the ovens and doesn't matter which country you're in.  ;)

My husband arrived in London several months before I did.  I made him measure the inside dimensions of the oven in the flat so I didn't bother bringing stuff that didn't fit.  Luckily, the first flat had a fairly small oven, so everything that worked in the first one is fine in our new place.  He thought I was nuts.

My smallest-ever oven was in an apartment in Georgetown in DC.  It was really, really tiny and didn't fit much of anything.  Luckily, it was my first place living alone, so I didn't have much of anything. :D  Worked out well.
