Me too but it's been over 10 years since I've been there. I was fortunate in that I got to go there several times in the early 70's. DD reckons you can get a bus for £18 from here to Newcastle then a ferry for £30 or so. That's pretty cheap. Maybe in the new year.

I'm sure I've had cheaper flights from Jet2 or the like.

Last time I was there I stayed at A Train Hotel. It's near the station. Cute rooms and really inexepensive. Plus it's right in the middle of the city, so good positions for sight seeing. (and there was a cafe around the corner)

ROFL!!! HAHAHAHA!!!! I thought my DH was the only one who used that term when describing his trip to Amsterdam.
