Brownie question

I bought a box of Betty Crocker brownie mix and the recipe only called for 1 egg and 1/3 cup of oil. I think I remember correctly that the American box mix I used to buy called for 2 eggs and at least half a cup of oil. I went ahead and added the extra bits. The box calls for it to bake between 20-25 min. I feel like I used to have to bake it for about 45 min. I am not much of a baker so I'm just wondering if I have to bake it longer with that extra egg?

Here is the US back of the Box directions - maybe the flour ingredient part in the UK is different which is why it calls for one less egg?

Betty Crocker Fudge Brownies, directions from cake mix box.
You will need
1 Package Brownie Mix
1/4 cup water
1/2 cup Vegetable Oil
2 Eggs

Heat oven to 350 degrees for 9" x 9" pan, 325 degrees for 8 inch pan
Grease or spray with cooking spray bottom only of pan
Stir Brownie Mix, Water, Oil and Eggs until well blended.
Spread in pan, 9" x 9", or 8" x 8"
Bake for 35 to 50 minutes, longer for the batter in the 8 inch pan.
Test brownies for doneness with wooden toothpick, inserted about 2
inches from edge of pan. Batter may still be a little moist, but will
be completely done by the time it cools.

I'm pretty sure the one here is half the amount then the one in the US.  I use a much smaller tin to bake them in, then there.

Ok, I followed the American recipe listed below but am baking them in about a 9X13 pan. Maybe I should go check them- it's been about 25 min. I guess they will be a bit thinner.

I always just follow the recipe as it is on the box in either nation.

There are often two recipes one for cake like and one for fudge-like...

They turned out alright. A bit thinner than they normally are. I will just follow the recipe next time!  ;)

In the US BC brownie mixes range from 18 ounces to 22 (the box mixes). Any idea how much yours weighed?

Yea find that is the weight. The thinness, I'm guessing is the pan size used.

I think cooking time would still be 20-25 whether you used 1 egg or 2 eggs. Might make it more cakey but should be ok. The main thing is look for the clean toothpick.

Still tired of coteries and bans. But hanging about anyway.

Ya, they are fine. I think I needed a smaller pan. They still taste fine. I'm still trying to conquer the whole metric system and converstions, etc. Also, the pan sizes for the most part seem smaller over here. I hope to master it someday!

findingaway, if you're looking for a good brownie recipe, this one is my favourite. I've tried a lot of recipes, but this is easily the best!
