My Christmas wish, what is yours?
« on: December 21, 2009, 10:39:20 PM »
Hello everyone,
I haven't been here for almost two months and I really missed you guys and your posts.

I hope some of you remember me with my marriage drama. I was getting ready to fly from Canada (stored my belongings in the storage, had my spousal visa, plane ticket)to UK when my husband was made redundant and in meantime had a job offer in the Middle East which he was going to take, but I was hoping not to. Anyway we were of course arguing and I was adamant to go ahead with my move. I know it was a risk at 51 leave my secure job, own place, my family and making a big move during the recession.
Well, being strong and positive and taking risks, I flew to UK. Our reunion was joyfull, but in meantime we had our worries. We were worried that we will spend Christmas in a tent in Scotland as my husband was saying, but I always remained positive that things somehow will work out. Well, imagine both of us unemployed in our early 50th. We went to Folkestone and we liked the area, but there are no jobs. Both of us went to the library daily (we didn't have Internet access) and kept applying everywhere. I applied via e-mail honestly for over 400 jobs and nothing for over two weeks, I was sick worried.  Even basic jobs would not get back to me, then boom, I had so many interviews and made a few trips to London for them. Having such a good feedback we decided to move to London as there are lots of jobs. I had to turn down 3 solid jobs as I picked up a good, well paid job in a hotel as F/O MANAGER in center of London. Today it is my second week on the job and  I got my first paycheck.
My husband had a couple interviews and we are still waiting, but also has one on Wednesday, so hopefully he will get a job and we can finally settle down with our life and marriage. The Saudi job feel out of window, my DH is devastated, but me... you guess....... :) So I was right trusting my instincts  coming to UK.
We were so stressed out with our LD marriage, but now are very happy being together on daily basis. We had so many awkward situations, but we laugh a lot and have so much fun. You should see the gorgeous place I left behind and now renting a room with shared kitchen and the bathroom, but we are happy and laugh about it, because we know it will be temporary.
I noticed good things happens to me during Christmas time. I moved to Canada during the Christmas time, bough my place during Christmas time, got engaged and married during Christmas time, no moved to UK and got a job during Christmas time.
It is some sort of magic and I am very, very grateful for the presents given to me.
My wish came true and hopefully my DH will get a job as well. Every year I had resolutions, this year I don't have even one. I am learned, that I want less material things in life, but enjoy exploring places.  I love London, I love being a part of London.

I just wanted to share with my UK adventure and wish everyone to have their wishes come true.
There is Lisa from Oregon, Lisa I am not sure if you got a job, but I read somewhere one of your posts where you mentioned your age. Don't worry about your age, (I am older than you)  keep applying my dear, you will get one for sure.
JP congrats with your job at Sainsbury's.
Now that I am somehow settled I will keep in touch.
Happy holidays  everyone.

Good news! YAY!

My Christmas wish is that my friend who is staying with us has her best Christmas ever. She's had the very worst of years, losing her health, fiance, home and (temporarily) livelihood. She is so skint but so cheerful and so optimistic. All of our friends have chipped in to get her gifts (totally unbeknownst to her) and I just want her to have the best time ever.

Please Santa? She's been such a good girl  :\\\'(

That's good everything's worked out so far. It's good to hear positive news after your initial worries and concerns. And congratulations on the job.

Don't have any real wishes other than the kids will enjoy it.

Oh and it'd be nice if this fluffy white stuff all over the place would just stay for a couple of weeks while the schools are off.

Other than that just wish a happy season for everybody.

Still tired of coteries and bans. But hanging about anyway.

That's great news, Winner... I'm glad it's working out for you!
Can you send some of your good luck my way?  ;)

I'm of the 'if you tell your wish, it wont come true' camp, so i wont say what my wish is... only that if i get it, it will give my self-esteem and confidence a much-needed boost.
