Time to transfer records from one surgery to another
« on: January 11, 2010, 02:52:27 PM »
I moved from one area of York to another in November, and so changed GPs.

My new sugery requested that my records be transferred from my old surgery.

I saw a GP at my new surgery to discuss "female problems" in the middle of December. At the time, the new surgery hadn't received the records from my old surgery, which include information about a scan I had a few years ago and information about a miscarriage. The new GP said that she wanted to  have my records before she spoke with me in detail.

Since she hadn't yet received my records, she made an urgent request for them.

Last week, my records still hadn't arrived.

Today, they still hadn't arrived. The receptionist I spoke to said that this time frame was normal and to be expected. She said that the fact that I had supplied my NHS number was actually speeding things up for them.

How hard can it be? The records are all online. I have seen them on the computer in my old GP's office.

It's been almost 2 months.

I hate to tell you this but my doctor's surgery still hasn't received my records from my old surgery and it's been over a year.
