excessive blinking?
« on: January 14, 2010, 02:57:59 PM »
My younger son (22months) has recently started to have spells of excessive blinking. Sometimes he even rubs his eyes. We're going to call his pediatrician, but I also did a little Google (of course!) and saw some info that tics at this age, especially in boys, can be common.

Has anyone else experienced this?
When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life. ~ John Lennon

My husband had this as a young kid. I think they had him do some sort of exercises, but I will have to ask him as I'm nor sure. He was also older than your son...

I have had eye troubles since birth, and -- just a thought -- I blink a lot (and want to rub my eyes but try not to) if the heating is on and the air is dried out. So I put a saucer of water on the floor under the radiator in the room where I am, to put some moisture back in the air. Another thing that makes me blink is if certain aromatherapy oils are being spread by an evaporator.

Yeah, aside from a potential tic, things like allergies, dry air, and vision problems could all be an issue. There is a humidifier in his bedroom. We don't do aromatherapy or any kind of scented sprays, etc as I'm very sensitive to them.

I have appalling vision so we will be taking both kids for check ups soon.

Thanks for the input!
