leash laws?

Actually, I don't think a muzzle is required when traveling by public transportation in London, at least I could not find anything about that in the bylaws on the TFL website.  But I must say I do appreciate it when the owner of a dangerous looking dog does muzzle their pet (and I have seen that on the Tube).  What the TFL site does say is that the dog (or any other pet)  should be leashed or carried in a container...that's certainly a reasonable request.  I've had no trouble taking my dog on the bus, Tube and Overground...it's nice to be living in a city with such pet-friendly public transit!

The dog warden called me this afternoon.
He said there is NO leash laws in parks. Theres only a leash law on the beaches around here.
He said if a dog attacks another dog,its a civil matter and nothing can be done really. But if the dog attacks a person,then it becomes a criminal matter.
He did however say if a dog is attacking m ydog, I am allowed to do whatever I need to,to defend my dog and not suffer any consenquences.

I prefer to have loose regulations on using leads. There should be some sort of regulation against unruly dogs but I have no idea how to enforce this. Most dogs walk around without issue and, owning a relatively well-behaved beagle, I love having him off-lead so he can do his sniffing and such.

The only trouble he gets is that, once in awhile, he will pick out a stranger and howl at them. Repeatedly. I find this 100% unacceptable even though the person usually has a laugh about it.

He did get injured one time after a Great Dane pounced on him but I accept it as part of the risk I s'pose. The owner did not apoligise and that is what really pissed me off.
