Apologies if this has been asked before. I've been looking and I can't seem to find an answer to my question.
I leave on Sunday for 5 months in Northern Ireland as a Student Visitor in Belfast. I am on two prescription medications in America: Aviane (birth control) which I just started two or three months ago after a hellish period of time on a different bc, as well as Bystolic for a heart condition.
I have arranged to have Express Scripts automatically send me three months at a time for my medication so I don't have to worry about getting it every single month while I'm abroad.
Express Scripts told me on the phone that they would send it directly to where I was going, but then once I started giving them the address, they said, "We can't ship overseas. You'll have to have a parent ship it to you from your house."
1. I was not aware it'd be possible to "study abroad" while remaining in the country. He claimed one minute that they could ship it to me "while abroad", but apparently once he realized "abroad" means not in America, he changed his tune. This is fine, but it leads me to #2...
2. Is it legal for my parents to send me these pills in the mail? I will have enough on me when I leave to last about a month, but once the Express Scripts are processed, I should be receiving 3 more months of it in the mail. I don't want to get my parents (or myself) in trouble for sending/receiving prescriptions drugs in the post. Even if I do have the prescription for them.
Has anyone else had any experience with having shipments of medications or Express Scripts, specifically, send to them in the UK? I'd love to hear your experiences. I'm worried about my drugs being delayed or getting into any kind of legal trouble. Both of these drugs are not exactly high on the list of abused drugs, as they are birth control and beta-blockers, but I just want to be sure.
Cheers,
Brittany
