Virgin atlantic
« on: August 26, 2010, 04:09:26 AM »
Hi ;D. My bf and I are flying on virgin Atlantic on sun and i was unsure about the carry on restrictions. We are each checking one bag and then he is also checking his tennis bag. Then we both have a small carry on bag. On their site virgin says that a purse is acceptable as a second carry on but what about a laptop bag? does anyone know if my bf is able to take his laptop bag in addition to his carryon luggage? Thanks.

This is something you need to ask Virgin Atlantic...or at least have a look through their website as luggage/carryon restrictions change frequently and will vary depending on what type of flight you're taking and what class you're flying in.

I'm thinking for some reason they only let you take 1 bag in economy/premium economy and that the laptop bag may or may not be an issue- depends on its size.

Can't say I've ever had an issue with taking both a laptop bag and a carry on bag- but, YMMV from mine

It depends on the mood of the person who checks you in. I carry medical equipment in my carry on and then have my laptop separate. I'm exempt from the carry on rules because of this. Sometimes the people at check in will question me and go on until I produce my exemption note, otherwise they wont even care.

Whenever I fly first on Virgin it's been fine, but economy has been a mixed bag. I've not flown virgin in a while though as my new company has a deal with Air New Zealand (who are just as good as virgin, but FAR cheaper :D )

I think that's the truth of it- sometimes they let you get away with things and sometimes not.  (I really like it when the low cost airlines let you get away with things- that's few and far between!!  :P)

I'm pretty sure in upperclass they don't care because you can take more on board and there's more room in the overhead bins due to less seats.  But I may never have an issue with economy either because when I check in, its at upperclass.

So to the OP, you may get luck you may not- check with the airline for the best bet, or have a backup plan of being able to stuff the laptop into your checked bag  :)

Oooh that does look like nice  :)

I have taken three bags sometimes on transatlantic flights as carry-ons (though usually I only take two) and never been questioned... (consisting of: a backpack, a large purse, and a laptop bag), the most recent time was in July when we moved (Virgin Atlantic)!! Maybe I've just been lucky...
