Working tax credits
« on: August 26, 2010, 04:57:06 PM »
So finally I've found myself a full time job after 3 and a half months (I'm the Brit).  Can someone just clarify for me please - when I apply for working tax credits (I have a daughter) I just inform the Inland Revenue that as my husband is on a settlement visa I am not entitled to claim for him???  i.e just for myself and my daughter?

Actually you can claim for him and you will file a Joint Claim for tax credits of all types (Child & Working) as TC's are one benefit that the Visa holder can receive if they have a British Spouse.

So, include all his information & have him sign it. The application will ask if he is under immigration control and you mark yes. He will then have to provide a copy of his passport details page & his visa page and then if he doesn't have a National Insurance Number yet they will require that he apply & receive a number before you will receive benefit payments.
