Today I sent a Valentines Day card 2 London & good news!
« on: February 04, 2010, 06:40:31 AM »
I sent my first Valentines Day card over to my BF in London.
I hope it will get there in time!!

At first I was wondering if England even celebrates valentines! hahaha..

I have some good news to share.  I've posted here before about me being strapped for cash and needing employment... I had something happen to me that I cannot believe how 'right' this feels.

My grandmother passed away which I am still getting over. Turns out, she left me a tiny bit of money. Before I was even wondering how I would be able to save $ in time for my goal year 2011 to live me my BF in the UK.

It can all happen now.  I cannot believe this.  I will be able to get a passport, take a trip out to the UK to see it and his flat, pay for my visa and a final flight over there to live. I will also have the money in the bank to show I can support myself.

I am going crazy looking for work right now.  I want to be in work by March.  Having a job is a priority so when I go to visit I will have enough ties to the USA to travel there. I also want recent work experience.  This is why I was posting about which companies are in the UK as well as the USA so I can get a bit of experience working there.

anyway, I am really excited that the hard work of my grandmother and father is helping me forfill my happiness. That is what they would have wanted.

You might already know this, but just keep in mind that if you're going to the UK on a fiance visa, you can't work there until you've gotten married, applied for, and received, your spousal visa. If that's the route you're thinking about taking. You might know that already, but just a heads up if you didn't!

Perhaps you should consider paying off a bit of your debt and take care of some of your responsibilities. You also need to remember to report it to your welfare worker too as it will impact your benefits.

If she left you a "tiny" bit of money, I definitely wouldn't go spending it all in one place, as these things all add up! Pay off your debts as soon as possible, but remember that the prices for visas are expected to increase within the next year..So it is really important for you to start working ASAP.

As for looking for US-UK jobs, it seems like there are TONS of them, it all just depends what field you're in, and who's a registered sponsor.  I think you have another post on this, so I'll check it out.

Aside from that, I hope your DB gets his card in time. I'm still working on my V-day gift for mine. (ie-- haven't started yet! hahaha)

ughhh I never realized how soon valentine's day is. I still don't know what to get DH. Do you guys know any good places that sell engravable items and engrave them as well? (Kinda like things remembered. I haven't found one here though).

I might do mymms.com. But that probably isn't what you are looking for. Thought I'd suggest it though! :)
