I'm slightly disgusted.  Really should turn over.

The title alone was enough to put me off.

It was pretty bad.  Makes me want to cuddle wee man.  But that would wake him up and believe me, he's got a LOUD cry!

They had an article about it in the Times yesterday.  I can sort of understand it to an extent.  I would prefer to have a boy.  My mother and I have a rocky relationship and I am not sure I want a girl and all the emotions that spring from that.

But if I do have one then I have one.

But the woman in the article I read wanted a girl so they could go shopping and wear pink and buy her wedding dress.  What if her daughter wants none of those?

I saw some of that programme. The woman with the 4 boys who went to the US to have her sex selection ivf so she could have 2 girls made me feell sick. It was all so she could have her perceived "perfect" life. Ugh.

My mother would have (does) loved that kind of relationship with me, but it was never on the cards, I was too busy learning how to program my ZX Spectrum, climbing trees covered in  motor oil, and later wearing a dirty lab coat with chalk dust in my hair, now she wants me to buy business suits in Principles, not hunt for vintage trainers on ebay.

I broke her heart when I told her I'd picked my wedding dress out already, and I painted my bedroom black and purple when I was 13. Sometimes I think I did those things to get her back for her constant disappointment in me.

I think it almost hurts her more that I'm a girl and we don't do those things, than it would if I'd been a boy. One of the most horrible things in the world is knowing that on some level your mother doesn't really want you or doesn't appreciate who you are.

It'll be divine justice if her teenage daughter becomes a punk or a Goth.
There is no such thing as bad weather, only bad clothing

She was sad and I would not be surprised if those little girls end up having issues.

I'm not trying to be snarky, but who's to say that wouldn't happen with a son?

I feel sorry for anyone who makes assumptions like that about a child (of either sex), because they are mostly likely going to live with disappointment.

The thing is I just didn't believe her when she was saying how perfect her life was. She seemed kind of sad, I don't know something seemed a bit off.

I actually teared up a couple of times during the show. I found it sad. Especially when the lady cried at the scan when she was having her fifth boy. I felt sad for her, but mostly for the healthy little boy she was carrying. Also when the American woman got the negative pg test at the end. Not sure what happened after that as my sky plus went out.

I don't understand how anyone (who wanted a baby etc) could cry when they found out they were carrying a healthy child, no matter what the sex. When so many others go through the anguish of losing their babies or having to face up to the realities of raising a sick or disabled child.
Okay maybe you could say "oh would be fun to have a girl" but when you find out it's a boy, surely that all just goes away and you love whomever you have.
It's not like all boy children are the same (or girl children) you could have 5 little boys and they'll all be totally different with their own personalities and interests. Some might love pink and wedding dresses, others fire trucks and spiderman. It's kinda part of what you sign up for when you get pregnant, to love whomever you give birth to.

To be honest I'm glad I didn't see this, it would just made me sad and angry.
