Or barring that, there's actually some really nice, leafy parts of Bermondsey that everyone seems to overlook...

I've got friends in Rotherhithe that absolutely love it -- it's definitely leafy and nice (at least where they are) and they're between Canada Water and Bermondsey on the Jubilee Line (kinda suck at the weekends right now, but that'll be done in the summer).

Hi. Good advice from previous posters. I live in Walworth just south of Elephant & Castle; it's a bit dreary but very convenient and mostly safe. I walk around alone all the time and in over two years here the only hassle I ever had was getting hit with snowballs by children hiding in the estates. Lovely. We rent a two bedroom cottage for 1000 a month which is expensive for this very subsidized neighborhood but not bad for London, and our cat likes the garden. If we could drag our asses out of here I would be quite happy to move into a bigger cuter older and maybe cheaper place in Brockwell or Forest Hill or if we had a bit more money I'd be happy to move to Rotherhithe or Bermondsey. We often bike along the Thames going east and there are some beautiful developments near the water (newish condos), very quiet and suburban and still close to Tower Hill. Oval is OK too, though a bit less convenient for transport I think. Vauxhall is near with some good restaurants.
