Family Life and Outings

Just out of curiousity...What  things do you enjoy with your children in the UK, exact location is irrelevant to me right now.  Historical sites, museums, parks, etc.

Playdates, indoor playgrounds, local parks, in Manchester we have some fantastic childrens museums, also National Trust properties. Tons to do with kids here imo!

Playgroups, playgrounds, soft play centres (aka indoor playgrounds), National Trust or English Heritage properties, pubs with childrens play areas (indoor & outdoor), petting zoos, library (our council libraries have a regular story time each week at each branch), various sessions at our local Sure Start Centre...

Like Racheeeee said tons to do with the kids.   ;)

We used to gravitate towards rivers and parks. Feeding ducks, letting the boys just run around in the open spaces while you sit nearby with a big gorgeous beer in hand... there are a lot of outdoor concerts in the summertime depending on the location... we'd also go to historic sites, playgrounds...
I'm done moving. Unrepatriated back to the UK, here for good!

I'm actually curious too because I'm due in the spring time and every time my fiance and I go out I look for places to take my bundle of joy!

I can't stress again how much I found the UK to be a haven for babygroups, every church, sure start centre etc seemed to have a baby group going for free (or or a minimal fee) at least everyday where I live, not to mention the local cinema have BabyCinema on a thursday, I can't wait until my new one comes so I can go to the cinema again!!

See, that's where I'm jealous of Manchester!  Every city surrounding Sheffield have a Mum & Baby Cinema except Sheffield (there is an Odeon, but it doesn't participate)!  Grr.  Especially since Bepanthen are offering free cinema tickets from specially marked packages at the moment and it's just not worth getting the tickets as I'd have to go to Manchester, Leeds, Lincoln or Derby to use em!   :P

Agreed on baby groups, they're very affordable even if your cuppa's not included in the price (if there is one) for bubbs to get in and a good variety to choose from locally.
