How often are utilities billed?

I've been in my flat for six months, and have only received one electric bill (and two water bills) so far.

Is the normal billing cycle for such utilities every 3-6 months, rather than monthly? Just curious...

It's very common for them to be billed on a quarterly basis and not monthly.  I'd say every six months is less common.
