Quick question re: tuna casserole & mushroom soup
« on: March 09, 2010, 03:34:20 PM »
I want to make tuna fish casserole tonight but the only cream of mushroom soup I have in the fridge is condensed. Would this be ok to use? Will I need to add more milk than what is in the recipe (it asks for one can of soup and half a cup of milk).

I use condensed soup in my tuna nuna casserole.  ;D  The recipe I have just says 'add a small amount of milk', so your half cup should be fine. Just add a bit more if it seems too dry.

BTW, it was really freaking good. I think I must have seen someone mention tuna casserole here recently and ever since it's all I've wanted. Yum.

I'm not sure why but I didn't realise that I could buy condensed soup here!  I thought it was all runny soups (regular - not condensed) for some reason.  What brand is it, Ashley?  Do I buy it in the refrigerated section or tinned soup section of a store?

Now that I've got DH hooked on homemade mac & cheese on a somewhat regular basis - I think it's time to move on to tuna casserole.  :)

I bought some Batchelor's condensed soups, chicken and mushroom, but I'm not sure where I got them.  Probably at one of the discount stores like Netto or Lidl.  I've seen Campbell's too, I think at Morrison's or Asda in the tinned soup section.

I never make mac & cheese.  My mom made DELICIOUS m&c and I could never replicate it so I just gave up.  Maybe she'll fix me some the next time I visit her.   :P

Yep, you can get Batchelour's condensed cream of mushroom soup at Morrison's, for sure, and I think you can get it at Sainsburys, too.

It was Campbells cream of mushroom. No idea where we got it but it'll be either Morrisons or Sainsburys as thats where we shop.

Yeah I don't why I thought we didn't have condensed soup here?  Am I getting it confused with orange juice (lemonade, etc) - do we have the concentrate for that here?  My family in the US always bought juice concentrate that we kept in the freezer, until we wanted to make some.

I'm coming up on 6 years here & still so much I have to learn!  :)

Hmm. Then god knows how old that can was! Was still good, though. :)
