This is mother-in-law's day for me. This isn't a vent, it's just the way we've worked it out. We have the in-laws over for lunch and spend the afternoon together. I never think of it as my day. For the U.S. Mother's Day, I send my mom a card (with a long letter in it), and we go out to dinner or get a takeaway--or at any rate, I don't cook.

It's just a way of spreading around the honours.

This is my first mothers day (even though my little boy is still in my belly) and DH wrote me such a sweet card it brought a tear to my eye and got me a teddy bear. We also went out to Pizza Express last night for dinner. It was lovely, and its amazing to think for the rest of my life someone will call me their mummy!  :)

I also got a card from "the bump" and some choccies. It made me cry.

I did call my mom and wished her a happy british mothers day but I don't send her anything until the US mothers day. I think it's sort of cool that I'll have a different mothers day than my mother. It's like it's more my day and the one in May is more her day. I have a lot of friends who were saying that now that they are mums, they sort of forget that they need to get something for their mum. I won't have that problem. :)
There are two things in life for which we are never truly prepared:  twins.
