cheap mini break ideas
« on: March 30, 2010, 04:49:18 PM »
I was thinking normally we go to the ILs over Easter - but not this year, as the timing is off.

So it got me to thinking, for anyone who wants to go away on a budget, what do you do to go on a cheap breaks for 2 around £200 or less? Location / type not a problem, for 2 - 4 nights.

Just looking for websites that may help in bargain hunting for short breaks.

Thanks in advance.  :)

Though this: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/lancashire/8595329.stm may answer all my problems!  ;D

The metro always has cheap vacations advertised....i think that prague is fairly cheap. Airfare relatively inexpensive.  My  husband found an apartment style hotel before on hostel world website.  I think it was like 19 quid a night....

I wish i could go away this weekend but i have to work saturday! Booooo!

I've had a look at http://www.directferries.co.uk/.  They've got mini-cruises, and the prices don't look bad.

I'd been thinking about road/rail trips, but the downside there is that the longer we're stuck in a car or a train, the more cuddle time we lose. :)  So this seemed like a good alternative.

I like the ship inn in Rye, stay for a couple of nights and get the train down from London, is about an hour and a half I think. Lovely little town, quaint and with some good restaurants, it's a market town as well.

Belgium is really cheap. Stay at the Hotel Housing http://www.booking.com/hotel/be/housing.en.html and they have a kitchen and a wine cellar where you can help yourself for free, you can get good Eurostar deals on HUKD or on lastminute.com, it's definitely one of the cheaper places on the Eurostar.

lastminute.com does good deals for city breaks, I went to Milan for two days from there and the hotel was gorgeous and it was about £70 each.

Coach trips across Europe are normally super cheap.
