Stir-Fry
« on: March 29, 2010, 02:08:52 PM »
So, I have lots of ingredients for stir fries and want to cook more of them since they are nice and healthy. I'm just wondering what sort of sauces I could do with them. I have bottles of soy sauce, hoisin sauce, mirin, toasted sesame oil, and other fresh stuff like coriander, limes, ginger, red and green chilies... the list goes on! So, what sorts of sauces do you make for your stir-fries, or do you have any recipe links to share? Thanks!

I bought this cookbook after I saw the show on TV. She has some really nice recipes and everything I've tried has been tasty!

My usual one is to make a stir-fry and use a tablespoon (well I just pour from bottle into wok!) of oyster sauce and some soy sauce. DW loves it so thats the one I do usually and will be doing this evening.

I made an amazing one the other week with oranges and sesame. I used a few drops of sesame oil (a little goes a long way) in the beginning with the vegetable oil and onions, added some orange zest in to flavour the oils, too, then carried on with the rest of the veg and prawns. Then near the end, I added in the juice of the orange and sprinkled some sesame seeds on top as garnish. A bit different but it was SO good!

Definitely! Yum!

Jewlz, I usually take a combination of your ingredients and mix until it tastes good- its not authentic, but I like it usually  :)
