Travel with a dog from UK to US
« on: March 29, 2010, 12:37:14 PM »
Hi everyone!!

My UKC hubby is in the RAF and going away in Oct.  I'm a USC and plan on going back to USA for 2 months and want to take my Jack Russell with....then bring him  back in 2 months with me.

I've been searching all over internet and can't really find much info on taking a pet from UK to US.  Has anyone ever done this and does he need to be quarantined ?!

Or can anyone suggest a website that would be informative?

Thank you so much!

As far as I know, there is no quarantine required unless going to Hawaii.

Here is some info that may be helpful:

     Hi ,

You can also try this site
http://www.aphis.usda.gov/import_export/animals/animal_import/animal_imports_pets.shtml

Like MirraJay said, only Hawaii has a quarantine.

I think they need to be up to date on rabies vaccine and your dog will probably need a "fit to fly " letter from your vet. The individual airlines will tell you what they require. I had no problems getting my cat to the Us from the UK.
