Cetaphil?
« on: November 25, 2009, 12:07:44 PM »
I don't know if it is even available in the US, but has anyone seen Cetaphil in the UK? It's a soap-free cleanser that I find essential!

Thanks Geeta - sorry for asking about something already discussed! It is really expensive though ... perhaps I'll take some over with me.

There are other soap free cleansers available.  Boots do one called Simple.  Might want to give it a try.

Stocked in Boots, apparently. Probably elsewhere too. ASDA sell it online.

Or you can order it on line from lots of places. Just Google "Cetaphil UK".

I have to use Cetaphil too, and it is fairly hard to find here. In practice I've found very few Boots that actually stock it, although your local one may order it for you if you ask. (If they do have it, it won't be on the regular shelves, you have to ask the pharmacist for it.) You may be stuck ordering it online.

I tried using the Boots Simple cleanser and it is really not the same, my skin definitely suffered.

I don't know where you live, but in London, the only two places I've found that reliably stock it are Garden pharmacy in Covent Garden, and John Bell & Croydon behind Selfridges near Oxford St.

If you can bring it from the States, do so! It's about 6-7 pounds a bottle here.

(If you've never used cetaphil you may be wondering what the big deal is... but for many of us, it really is the only thing we can put on our face! It's a godsend.)

It's not a Boots brand though, so if you decide to give it a try you should be able to find it just about anywhere - I've even seen some of the Simple products at Aldi!

Our Boots store stocks it - although we are a large store located in a shopping mall. It's all based on customer demand though, so small stores are unlikely to keep it (we only sell maybe one Cetaphil product every couple of weeks and we have thousands of customers coming through our doors every day). However, any Boots should be able to order it through their pharmacy as long as it's on the system - ordered pharmacy products are usually in stock by the next morning (unless you order on the weekend) :).

I've seen it stocked in Lloyd's Pharmacies before, so you may want to check Lloyd's as well.  Like others have said you may need to ask at the pharmacy counter if its not out on the shelves.

Yes, I found Cetaphil cleanser on the shelf at my local Lloyd's pharmacy two weeks ago.  Also, I was at Harrods department store yesterday and their pharmacy had Cetaphil cleanser and moisturizer on the shelf.  The price was actually better than Lloyd's, and I found that to be true for another product as well, surprisingly.  If you are not familiar with Harrods, it is located at Knightsbridge tube station in London, and their pharmacy is on the lower ground level, accessed via the food halls.

Just a note that the moisturizing cream (of which I am a huge fan since I have psoriasis) is not available in UK, so if you like that, be sure to bring some with you. I have seen the cleansers both online and in Boots before, though. Thankfully I just brought a big tub of the cream home with me from the US.  ;D

An update to my earlier post...

The Harrods pharmacy has recently been relocated, and is no longer accessed via the food halls.  It is now in another corner of the lower ground floor which is not connected to the section where it was previously.  It's difficult to describe, but the easiest thing to do is to enter the store at door 10, on Hans Road, then immediately take the escalator down.  Or if you enter via another door, find your way downstairs anywhere other than through the food halls, and then keep walking all the way to the last last last room, past the stationery and cards.

They do still stock Cetaphil cleanser, priced at £8.25 for 250ml.

Update on this as well: not sure where else it might be available, but Cetaphil moisturizing cream is listed on the Amazon UK site. It comes in a tube rather than a jar, and is about 8.50 GBP, I think.  :)
