I happen to like Gordon and Labour. But why do they choose to put immigration under the section "Crime and Immigration"? Why are they saying, the two are linked (I know they aren't really, but it says something)? That's rankled me.

Probably because both come under the auspices of the Home Office.

Probably because people care more about what a government will 'do about crime' than whether it is just!  ;)

Worth pointing out, too, they've pledged in the manifesto to residency/citizenship from how long you've been here and put it on the points system - presumably meaning that even if you get in some other way, you won't be able to get ILR/citizenship without meeting the points requirement.
