worried
« on: June 07, 2010, 10:54:32 PM »
so next week I have an appointment in london to see if they can correct a birth defect I have. and I am worried sick.
My entire life I wanted nothing more then to have this corrected so I canfinally look normal. Ive had surgeries before to try and correct it,but the last one was over 10 years ago and apparently medical technology has changed since then, so I am going to see if it can be corrected now. and hopefully the NHS will cover it if it can be corrected
But I am so worried that I will be told "sorry but theres nothing we can do"
Just for once I'd like to be able to look in the mirror and not see the disfigurment and for once have people not see me for the first time and notice my disfigurment straight away.

sorry for this random vent, I just needed to let it out!

Let it out! :)

I sincerely hope it goes well for you, ink. I can imagine that the wait is nerve wracking, but at the same time, I can imagine not wanting to hear anything if it could possibly be bad news. Keep us updated on what happens, m'kay? And no matter what happens, those of us on here still love you  :-* Good luck with the appointment!

Hoping your appointment brings you good news and the answers you are looking for! Will be thinking of you.  :)

I hope it goes well for you.

All I'd suggest is make sure you have a list of questions / concerns with you. Could you bring someone as moral support (and to help write down the answers to your concerns)? And ask if there is any information they can take away so you have time to digest it.

Best wishes.

thanks everyone, your comments are appreciated

I did ask my partner to go with me, which of course he said he would. But I'm having second thoughts on it. I think its something I need to go to and go through on my own.
