Pet Insurance
« on: June 01, 2010, 07:08:46 PM »
Hiya,

First, I apologise if this is the wrong board since my query isn't really moving related, but it is pet related.

We currently have MoreThan pet insurance and are getting a second cat in the next few weeks so, as I'm not particularly happy with the premium we are paying for the one, I'm looking at other pet insurance policies.

My question is, does anyone have any recommendations?  I don't really care about 1 year discounts or any of that stuff, just want a reasonable price for 2 cats. (morethan's quote put us at about £18 for the pair but that's with a 30% new policy discount.  Also, we didn't get a discount for not claiming in the past year which kinda ticked me off and when I called to ask was told that my policy couldn't be reviewed until March next year and if i wanted to cancel, go ahead)

Also, I'd like somewhere that will pay the vet directly and not tell me to bugger off when I complain.

I'm looking at Sainsbury's (cause I want the double nectar points lol) but wanted some opinions of people who may have personal experiences with them.

Thanks!

Pengi

Hi   -I use tesco insurance for my cat and its £6.52 a month for a 5 year old moggie. I used to have another cat who was also insured with Tesco (she sadly died - a very sick miaowface :(), but during all of the treatment (emergency and otherwise) tesco paid up as required - and it was several thousand pounds. I did have to pay up front though so I'm not sure it would suit you, and I have no experience of complaining to them so can't comment on how they deal with that either. Hope that helps!

We recently had to cancel our PetPlan policy because they decided not to pay a vet bill of almost 800pounds! Our cat has a heart condition (recently diagnosed) - for some unknown reaspn, Pet Plan decided to retroactively not cover heart conditions for a year before we first took the cat to the vet... WHAT???????? So rather than argue, we cancelled... Pet plan is great when your cat is well!

Our other cat is insured with Tesco, and I don't think we've had a problem with them.

Right, pet plan is out then.  That is so not right!

Sounds like Tesco is one to look at though.

Thanks for your input.  Any experiences are helpful :)
