Valentine's Day Ideas?
« on: January 26, 2011, 02:09:00 AM »
Hello everyone,
My fiance is currently in England and I am in the States processing my marriage visitor visa (after we get married in England, we are moving to France).  We've never been apart before and have so far done two weeks with five weeks to go.  Its been rough, but I know many of you have done much much longer, so I'm truly thankful that this is the only time we will be in this situation.  I am trying to think of a way to make Valentine's really special even though we are apart.  Does anyone have any good ideas or would like to share a story of things they've done in the past?  I was thinking that it might be neat to both cook a recipe together and have a skype dinner.  Or, maybe do some other activity together along those lines.  Just wanted to see if anyone else had a few ideas.
Have a wonderful day  :)

Wish I could help... I've been trying to think of ideas for a big night, myself. I really like the cooking together + Skype dinner idea you've got, though :)

We watch films together or read to each other as dates pretty regularly, so I was trying to think of something else that would feel like a special date night rather than the usual...

14 Jan 12 - Submitted spousal visa application online
17 Jan 12 - Biometrics and mailed

19 Mar 14 - Applied for ILR via checking service
29 Mar 14: Rec'd biometrics letter (dated 27 Mar) and completed biometrics same day
11 Jul 14: ILR approved
14 Jul 14: BRP and approval letter received
2 Dec 14 - Eligible to apply for citizenship

Wow, I love your special date nights of watching films or reading to each other!  I never thought about doing something like that.  We both love literature and having something to read together would be a great way to pass the time and be able to "do" something together.  That is such a great idea.  Thanks :)

I love this thread!  I just decided last night that since we can't out to a nice dinner this year, I'd have one delivered to him.  Try using www.just-eat.co.uk and order him his favorite meal from the takeaway.  You can order it entirely online and leave any special instructions in the order for the restaurant/driver.  I asked him if we could have a Skype date on V-Day night, and am going to arrange to have dinner delivered while he has the webcam on.  Granted, Chinese isn't really a romantic dinner, but I'm sure he'll appreciate not having to cook.  :)
