so question then. are u a dual citizen and how did u go about do it. i am wanting to be a dual citizen but i have 2 years to wait till i can become a british citizen but never too late to reasearch it
If you just entered the UK, then it's going to take you somewhere around 3-5 years to get citizenship, not 2 years. Under the current rules, you can get ILR (permanent residence) after 2 years on a spouse visa, but this is not citizenship and alone it doesn't entitle you to citizenship. You currently have to be in the UK for 3 years to get citizenship as a spouse and you also have to hold ILR.
As Aquila mentioned, ILR will no longer exist from July 2011 (unless the new government changes the immigration plans), so you will have to go through the new probationary citizenship system - the details of which are currently unknown, but it is likely to take 5 years to gain citizenship unless you fulfill a community service criteria (in which case you may be able to get citizenship in 3 years). As I said though, the exact details of the new system have not yet been released.
