The Bar Method
« on: February 26, 2010, 05:59:49 PM »
I'm thinking of going to a Bar Method class.
Has anyone taken one? What's it like?

Now, this comes from the perspective of a former professional ballet dancer who has spent many years teaching dance to kids and adults- but I think it's a bit of a crock.  I haven't taken a class, just watched part of one so I'm also not fully educated.

But, it's essentially just a really, really expensive well-marketed ballet class.  Go to a good dance studio in town and you'll get a 90 minute class for around $15 (that's more than half the price of The Bar Method, which is an hour for $24 avg.) and you'll get the real barre method, plus some cardio in the center.  I also did a full floor pilates/abs and back workout for any adult classes I taught.

Like I said, I'm totally biased.  ;)

I'm totally addicted to the Bar Method now. I go 5 times a week. Love it!
