Email address for BA?
« on: August 21, 2004, 09:19:29 AM »
Hi Everyone,

I'd like to know where I can find an email address so that I may send a complaint letter to British Airways.   Maybe I just didn't look hard enough on their site but it's seems they only have mailing address and phone numbers.

I flew with BA a few weeks back to go to Dubai.    The flight there was not bad but the flight home was not fun at all.  On our 8 hour flight back home there was no tv and no radio.  We did not even get an apology.  I understand things happen and well it was just broken so it's forgiveable.   However I was due to fly out on Friday the 27th to Germany for the weekend.   As you know there may or may not be a strike.  I called British Airways to see what I need to do in order to get a refund.   I was told that they will not be giving refunds and that they only have a rebooking policy that had to be used by the end of November.   Well sorry but that was not good for me; I don't have any other weekends where it is convenient for me to go.  I argued and they still would not give me my money back. So rather then waste the ticket I figured my only other option would be to fly out on Thursday night.  As a result I'm having to take off early from work  a job I only started 3 weeks ago (I had already cleared the Friday off when I started as I had already booked the trip) and on top of that I now have to take a car service to Heathrow costing me even more money.

I guess my complaint seems a bit petty but it's more a matter of principal to me now.  Why should I be penalized for something that is not my fault at all?

In any case if anyone has an email address where I can send my complaint to it will be most appreciated!

Thanks for your help!

Maureen

They offer a web form at https://www.britishairways.com/webmail/prep_ukfeedback_en, which they describe as "Email us UK".  They also offer a log in to executive club members so that they can get in touch by email.   I suspect they don't want to publish email addresses directly, but prefer emails to be routed via their web site / web server.

Edit to remove personal opinion about BA ... out of place in this thread

The strike has been called off. It was on the news last night! And I had heard on the news that if it wasn't averted, there would be refunds.

This is just my 2p, but I find written letters get much better responses than email. And if it's a huge complaint, I send it so someone has to sign for it. I think you should get a refund from BA for  anything you had to pay to change the plane ticket and for the car service. That or get them to change you back to the original flight, not strings attached.

Make sure you have a written letter to them. When I had a problem with them, I sent an e-mail through their site and they did get back to me, but they said to call them and then gave a number. Um...no I wanted a reply not to speak to someone on the phone!

Anyway, letters are always your best bet. You can always give your e-mail for a reply

I know I jumped in and gave you an electronic contact, Maureen, but I have to agree with the ladies that a written / posted letter is more likely to get a response than is a web site message.  If nothing else, it shows 'em your serious enough to take time and spend money writing so you're less likely to let it drop.

Co-incidentally, yesterday's paper included a report based on figures from the Air Transport User's Council about complaints they received in the 12 months to March 2004.   They state that these are complaints they receive late in the day - "people genarally come to us as a last resort" and that the numbers of complaints will naturally be higher for the bigger airlines.  Top was British Airways (with 252 complaints), followed by EasyJet (173) Ryanair (160), KLM (70), Flybe (68) and BMIbaby (67). Then came Air France, Emirates, My Travel and Virgin (36).

Hi Everyone,

Thank you for your responses...

I'm not really sure if I should right the letter now especially as the strike was called off.  I'm still angry at the fact they out right refused to refund the money to me as I had requested but it almost seems like there's no point now.

What do you all think?

Thanks,

Maureen

Write them, complain. It can't hurt. Make sure you tell them it was on the news that refunds would be issued and now you have to pay for a car service.
