Ok, so I had my eye test done for free at D&A. I looked around afterwards for prices of frames and they seem very expensive! My prescription for lenses will only come to about 50 pounds or so but the frames look to be over 100! I was wondering if they are just an expensive place? Does anyone have a suggestion of a place that has cheaper or better deal? I may need to go into the shops and price around.
I normally only pay one single price for the frames plus the lenses (from Specsavers) - which usually makes it fairly cheap compared to buying the lenses separately (i.e. if I kept my old frames and just changed the lenses). For example, basic standard lenses on their own start at about £40, but £25 frames include standard lenses too, so you only pay £25 for the complete pair unless you want thinned lenses, reactions lenses or special coatings (you have to pay extra for those). My latest pair of glasses cost £85 for the frames and standard lenses, however, I chose to have extra coatings, plus super-thin lenses and reactions too (although the reactions were free), so they cost me £175 in total.
If I'd kept my old frames and just got the new lenses (super-thin, reactions and coatings), it would have cost me about £150!
