Tapicoa

I use instant tapioca as a thickener in berry pies.  Does anyone know of a source for it?  I tried Tesco's and Holland and Barrett this morning.  Both women I spoke with said they hadn't seen it for ages.

Do you have any South Asian groceries near you? They usually carry it; it's called sago or sabudana.

Thanks Geeta.  I'll check into Asian groceries - there's bound to be one near me.

No problem...I just realized you wanted instant, which you might not find as easily.  But give it a try.

Same as geeta's suggestion - I get instant tapioca from my local Chinese Grocery - along with popcorn and black beans and many other non - Chinese items.   Good Luck

Thanks so much.  I'll keep my eyes out for Asian groceries.  I found popcorn at Holland and Barrett.  Haven't tried it yet.  I pop the kernels in olive oil - you have to use a small saucepan - at least I do or I will burn the oil.  Thanks again.

Re: Olive Oil

Olive oil has a low smoke point and that's why it burns so quickly if you use it to make large batches of popcorn
