Lost Docs
« on: July 13, 2010, 05:29:17 AM »
Well, I was about to complete my application, expected the rest of my documents today.  Now I have learned they are lost in never never land.  The documents were a letter of accomodation approving my stay from our local council in the UK, and about 10 of my husbands payslips.  I can get another letter sorted for the accomodation, its just a pain in the butt.  But what do I do about the lost wage slips???  I have a bunch of older ones, the newest being from end of May this year, but nothing since.  My hubby was saving the recent ones up to send to me right before it was time, to have the most recent documentation. What do I do?  Ugh this is so frustrating...

I'd say go back to your employers.  There shouldn't be any problem printing out new wage slips.  I've had to do it for lost ones.  What a pain for you.  Sorry.

Yeah, just have him either get a letter from his employer detailing the last 3 months wages or see if they can print them up again for him.

This is precisely why you never send things through Royal Mail when it's visa related. When he does get this sorted out have him use International Priority. In some cases I've seen it actually be cheaper than Royal Mail and you can track the package through the whole process, it's 100% insured and delivery is guaranteed the next business day.

Sadly, for the first time...these documents were lost via FEDEX!  I have never had an issue before...I have no idea what went wrong this time. Just a case of bad luck I guess. He didnt use overnight, as I normally did...so maybe that was the issue. Either way these documents are gone.  Hopefully his employer can get copies of his slips, but they aren't the quickest bunch. :(  The last letter I got from them took 3 weeks to get ahold of.

I keep crossing my fingers hoping the originals will pop up, but thats not likely. Looks like its time for plan B.

If it was sent FedEx you should be able to track it or complain your head off and have FedEx find it.

It was, and we have.  Evidently since it was a mail place that handled mutiple carriers, not just FedEx. It was lost at the store somehow, and never even made it overseas.  We have lodged a complaint, and do have a credit from FedEx for the next shipment.  I will be doing the pickup via FedEx customer service, instead of having my husband go to a mail store that provides FedEx services.  Just a mess in general.

Could be worse, I think I remember one girl posting years ago about her passport being lost--it was Fedexed too.

Its just aggravating. I had everything ready to go, just awaiting those documents so I could hit the submit button, do my biometrics, and send it off.  Now I have to wait..again.  But you are right it could be worse.

Sorry, Erika... hope they turn up for you.  :-\\\\ I know how frustrating it can be to have to get everything together when the paperwork is in two different countries!

FedEx delivered my passport (with UK visa in it!) to the wrong house on the wrong street 3 days before I was supposed to leave. I almost had a heart attack!
