for my peace of mind.....
« on: October 18, 2014, 01:22:49 PM »
Hi all,

We've already sent our application off to sheffield but I dated some of the documents such as my sponsor letter and employment letter a few days AFTER the application date to make them as recent as possible. Will this be a problem?  :-\\\\

My understanding was that only the bank statements and payslips could be no more than 28 days old at the time of the online application, which they aren't.

Hopefully it will be alright?  ???

Yes, it could be a problem.  Bank statements and pay slips can be no more than 28 days old at the time of application.  Everything else should be as recent as possible but had to have been in existence at the time of application.  Dating something after the date of application may make them inadmissible and since the letter of employment is a required document, it could definitely be a problem.

I've never heard of it being a problem before - there are people who don't actually gather their documents or write their letters until after submitting the online application. They should be as up to date as possible and if you receive any bank statements or payslips or other documents after the online application date, you must include them.

As far as I'm aware, the only thing that could be a problem is if the letters are dated more than 28 days BEFORE the online application date.

I agree that after the application date is fine...  But not after the postmarked date or after it would have been received.   ;)

naturally i'm worried that i may have messed up somewhere even though i checked everything countless times over hehe.

we've provided EVERYTHING they needed and maybe a bit more to ensure we've covered all corners.

I have never heard of anyone using things dated after the online application and in fact  you can't include anything that didn't exist at the time of online application in the appeal process so it stands to reason that you can't use anything that didn't exist at the time of online application for the actual application.

There is no requirement for letters to be dated up to 28 days before the online application.  They should be as recent as possible.  The only documents that can be no more than 28 days old at the time of application are pay slips and bank statements.

I found a recent thread where the application was approved with the exact same circumstances:
