I completely disagree!  Jeans are cut for thin people, even the plus-size ones are just bigger versions of skinny-people styles, and don't take into account that larger women have different shapes than smaller ones.  I have never found a pair of jeans that really flatter me.  Even the much-vaunted bootcut style is a fail, as my calves are too big.  I've tried hundreds of pairs in all different styles and nothing looks good.  I prefer loose, flowy trousers and fabrics that are less constricting than denim.

Not to mention that skinny jeans don't look good on anyone, even the skinny model types.

I've pretty much given up on jeans as anything other than crap-around clothes.  I am seriously envious of women who can effortlessly throw on a pair of jeans, a fun top and some heels and look like a million bucks.  I, on the other hand, look like I'm about to start cleaning -- or better yet, have been at it all day.

But as I've gotten older, I may not exactly embrace my limitations, but at least I know them and have stopped using clothing as a way to try shame myself into being someone I'm not.  I feel much better about myself and get a lot more compliments.

I see women wearing jeans that don't look good on them, but I think it's because they can't find styles that are flattering to them that are in their size.

People say I look good in jeans, but I have very short legs and there aren't that many jeans that aren't too long for me, let alone flatter my shape.

I only own a few pairs of jeans and I just wear them over and over. Even those aren't exactly perfect for me.

Yes, definitely. Jean shopping can be one of the most depressing things, and eventually you just give in and buy something that fits, regardless of if it is flattering. I'll admit I used to do that all the time. It took me ages to find a brand of jeans that fit me properly, and annoyingly that brand only exists in the states. So I had to take an empty suitcase and stock up the last time I went back!  ;D

As for UK fashion, there is a lot of ugly stuff here, but just the same as in the states. I prefer the shops here, though. Coming from northeast Ohio to London has probably influenced it, but the clothes are great! Granted, the cheap stuff here is really cheap and of terrible quality. I've taken to going to designer sample sales just to get quality, well-tailored clothes at massively discount prices merely because anything I buy at Primark (or such) literally falls apart after a few wears and doesn't fit well to begin with. If only I had my sewing machine over here...  :-\\\\

I agree that a lot of the clothing here is of very poor quality.

I find that since I've moved to the UK, I own less clothing and I wear the same clothes more often.  I've become much pickier about the clothes I buy. Not like in the US, where if I saw a $15 t-shirt that didn't look bad on me I would grab it. I know that if I bought something of an equivalent price for something in the UK, it would probably tear in the wash the first time I washed it.  So I save up to buy things of better quality that fit me well.

Regarding fashion, I think there is a happy medium between wearing clothing just because it is trendy, even  if it looks horrible on you, and wearing the same styles you wore 10 years ago because they fit you and they're comfortable.  I don't want to look like I'm a slave to fashion and I don't have a clue about what looks good on me.  I also don't want to look like I don't care about how I appear to other people.
