Have I missed something here or....

...are the people that work for the postal service completely incompetent fools??? I sent my app and documents via USPS to Chicago yesterday, and had it sent next-day express mail with a guarantee that it would arrive before noon. I also had it sent with signature confirmation...just to be extra cautious. I tracked it on the website and apparently they tried to deliver it this morning at 10:20am and they left a notice!?!?! You mean to tell me there was not a single soul at the Chicago British Consulate to sign for it??? And Im pretty sure no ones gonna go down to the post office to claim it either.

Would it be a drop box that the mail man would have put it in, or doesn't he bring it inside the physical building? Should I have not sent it with signature confirmation? I called the Chicago post office and the woman said she would try to have them attempt to deliver it again today if it's not too late. I wish this process would go alot smoother, but it definitely has been FAR from smooth and I blame it on the mail. Very upset.

The people at my local USPS station are more of the dribbling idiots type than incompetent fools. Can't stand them. I wouldn't trust them with anything of value. Sorry they caused you problems.

It turns out it DID get there, but when i looked at the tracking info on their website it said they "attempted" to deliver it, a notice was left, and they needed to pick it up at the chicago post office. I called them and they said "oh yeah, it'll say 'notice left' but it actually is really there" ...huh?! Made no sense whatsoever! I checked my email once more and turns out they did receive it because I had a "visa application in process" email. So USPS about gave me a heartattack for nothing! I'm just thankful it's finally there.
