Quick, Faster, Easier and even better if cheap!
« on: August 10, 2010, 01:23:15 PM »
With all the threads about keeping it inexpensive and loads and loads of recipes I got excited.
We all seem to know about health and try to eat right but like I think CB said its hard to do on a budget.  I am not looking for all budget meals but FAST ones are great!

I LOVE mince....Easy to brown up and eat plain or with stuff.  I am branching out on vegetables but what is your "quick meal".  What do you keep in the house to throw together?  I mean a good standby is always pasta and sauce <gets boring>...

So quick and fast meal? That is filling?
Is it Easy?

My version is a frozen chicken breast sandwich - I get bored and you guys are all so creative ;-)

I'm a super busy person and I'm always running out the door, here and there, so I rely on  leftovers, eggs, cereal, quick cooking rice/couscous/grains, tinned beans, quick cooking veggies, salad stuff, pasta, and anything in my slow cooker!!  I <3 my slow cooker- a great meal and its already done when I get home and I'm starving.

I know a lot of people around here make big batches of stuff and freeze it, but I've only just gotten a proper freezer again- after having one of those silly- teeny- tiny ones for ages- so I'm not in that habit again.
I've never gotten food on my underpants!

My quick meal is some sauteed chicken with a super speedy cream/vermouth sauce. And fresh tarragon if I have it. The whole thing takes about 10 minutes. (more for accompanying potatoes & veg, but you could easily make a salad instead)

Yes I have 2 slow cookers now <small one and big one> I am home alone for 2 weeks at a time so cooking meals for just me can get boring too...I am home all day as I work from home so essentially I make every meal here ;-)
Gosh how I wish I liked eggs but the texture, smell and anything about them make me gag.
Our freezer is tiny drawers and I keep threatening to buy another one to put in theloft but man that is 3 floors up to use haha
I should look more into tossing stuff into a crockpot - brother, beans, mince/chicken hummm

I know most of you are brillant with these ideas!
