winter coat for 2 1/2 year old girl?
« on: August 23, 2010, 01:05:33 PM »

I'm scouting around to find a coat for Jean for this winter, preferably under £15.  Have looked at websites for Next, George, Mothercare.  Any suggestions of either websites or shops?

Bootsale!  ;D  Seriously I picked up a coat for my little girl last week at the bootsale for .50p and it's from Monsoon and in gorgeous condition. No one is gonna know I didn't pick it up from the shop itself.  :D

Vertbaudet is always cheap, I also find Gap to be reasonable (from time to time) and John Lewis.

Have you checked eBay?  A lot of people resell kid's clothing there.  It's great for seasonal things or special occasion outfits.  Most of them have only been worn a few times.  Some of it's even new things that people have bought on clearance, etc.  It's worth checking out.  My sister bought a suit for my nephew to wear to my wedding, and she figures, after he's done with it, she'll probably re-sell it there again. :)

I was just in Mothercare last week and they had a handfull of winter coats for sale for pretty cheap.  Try TK Maxx too - they had an awesome pink regatta coat and a handful of other good winter coats for less than £15, but DD already has a winter coat.

Alternatively, have you tried having a family member buying a snowsuit set from the states and mailing it over?  My Mom's been doing that for DD for the past couple years, but she buys them at the end of winter clearance sales in the states, and then mails it over.   :-\\\\

Thanks for the suggestions!  I'll check out a few when we're in town tomorrow.  I'll probably end up getting one at our local NCT Nearly New Sale in October as well, got a lovely one "from Next" there last year she's outgrown now.

I second the above suggestion for ebay.co.uk
I acquire a lot of great stuff from there! I don't think it is quite as popular here in the UK--so bidding is never really ferocious...
