Scotland looking to overturn the US Haggis ban
« on: January 23, 2011, 11:43:00 AM »
I think PB a while ago was talking about taking haggis to the US for people to try.  Anyway, for haggis lovers who want to bring some to the US for family, watch this space.  Looks like Scottish ministers are trying to get the US to allow it back in.  Also, if you are unsure what's in it, you can find out!  It's... ummm... interesting!

Ingredients of swede, carrot, lentils and more, it sounds quite tasty.   :)

Gasp!  :P I knew about the liver, but not the heart or the lungs.  :P :P :P  Last night at the local Burns supper I ate the haggis with a wee dram of whisky poured over it.  Greatly improved the taste.  Lungs???? OMG

Not any worse than your average hot dog or sausage ingredients.

I've had a veggie haggis before (hubby had the real thing) and it was good!

What's the difference, (if you're not vegetarian), lungs or liver or heart or kidneys--they are all major internal organs.  Better not to waste any part of the creature if you are going to eat it at all....
