A question about XE?
« on: August 27, 2010, 12:13:22 PM »
I set up an amount to be transferred to my Canadian bank account and its telling me to wire the money to a certain bank account to be transfered..do I just make an online payment from my natwest account to the account in question? I am so confused...this is the first time I have ever done it. So here is hoping someone who has used XE can help me!

Aleanora, is your NatWest account in your profile set up to have EFT transfers made directly from it? I only have a US bank account at present so I don't know if UK banks have the same options. When you go to do a Basic Transfer and you see 'Debit my account' in the Select Payment Method?

You do a transfer (BACS) from your bank account to their UK account (they provide you with the BACS sort code and account number).
When you setup the transfer make sure for the transfer from their UK account to your Canadian account that you choose ETF and not Wire.  Wire will cost you money, ETF will be free.
For the transfer from your UK account to their UK account you have to choose Wire as it's the only option but it's not really a Wire but a transfer initiated by you in your UK account.
