Afternoon Tea around Windsor
« on: September 29, 2010, 04:35:49 PM »
I think I am going to Windsor Castle to celebrate my 1 year in the UK/ birthday in 2 weeks and I would like to get afternoon tea.
On Trip Advisor The Crooked House of Windsor and Harte & Garter were recommended.
What would you recommend?

I didn't go into The Crooked House, but it looked rather interesting due to how crooked the building really is! I was with my 80-year-old grandmother so we didn't get too many places. We ate at a pub called the Royal Oak, which was right by the train station. It was pretty good if you want a pub after tea. Have a lovely birthday! :]
I urge you to please notice when you are happy, and exclaim or murmur or think at some point, 'If this isn't nice, I don't know what is.' Kurt Vonnegut

Are you asking for somewhere IN Windsor or AROUND Windsor?  If you will have a car and are up for a short drive outside Windsor, Pennyhill Park Hotel in Bagshot is beautiful and has fantastic Afternoon Tea.

Afternoon tea at the Crooked House?

In my opinion take a photo of the interesting building and then go somerwhere - anywhere - else for your tea.

Nothing special about the menu, not so lovely inside and the deal breaker for me is no bathroom.  That's right - no bathroom.

I went there years ago and they had a loo.  Last time (last year) they told me to go to the public toilets outside.  That they don't have to provide tiolets if they are within a certain distance to the public ones.

Bleh!

That place looks gorgeous! Since we are looking for something closer to Windsor, I will keep this in mind for the future!
