from St. Paul to Salford...
« on: September 20, 2010, 09:09:58 PM »
...for the time being, anyhow.

I'm on an academic leave, working with staff and faculty at the University of Salford in the areas of multicultural teaching and learning, and teaching professional development (as one of the early career faculty I worked with put it - I "coach future and new college faculty in teaching and learning so that we never have to suck as teachers").  I'm loving the transition but missing easy access to Twins baseball games and to conversation about politics Minnesota style (living in a working class St. Paul neighborhood that means genuine informed arguing rather than Minnesota Nice (passive-aggressive) or confrontational sound bites.

Loving the easy access to multiple music and theatre venues, as well as to travel in Wales - the place I learned from my grandmother to think of as "the home place."

Welcome! I lived in the Cities (really a Minneapolis girl, but I lived in St. Paul at first) for years and still think of myself as Minnesotan.

Welcome to UKY! MN born and bred here - the Duluth area to be exact. Living in South Dakota to be moving to England next May/June, my wife is from Liverpool, so might end up in your area. Twins clinched division last night, but the Vikes looking not so great after 2 games. I'll miss watching both those teams on the telly, but I'm sure I'll get used to going to the pub to watch LFC!

Welcome to UKY...I loved MN...I lived in Woodbury for a few years and my EX was from there and we visited his family often. I am sure you can find American baseball on somewhere - even online?
