I purchased our rings and brought them over with me.  It was my little contribution since I won't be working until after we're married in September.

We looked at rings on a previous visit and I was shocked 1) at the prices and 2) the quality.

Most of the rings were 9k gold and outrageous compared to what I was used to paying in the States.

Check out www.bidz.com .  That's where I got both of our rings.  18k white gold.  Total paid $227 including shipping.

Btw, we plan on going on the cheap as well.  Registrar's office for the ceremony with only close family attending and the reception will be a BBQ in the back garden.  Hard to break my Texan habits after all.  :)

Just realized that my post is completely off topic.. So adding that-- we plan on getting our "married photos" taken at the Dundee Botanic Garden a week or two after the ceremony.  I think they will be nicer than photos taken inside a Registrar's Office.  Plus, it's where his Mum got her wedding photos taken as well.  :)

Carrie, please post here if you come up or came up with a good solution. We am getting married the same way (bride, groom, 2 witnesses) in Sale about 4 weeks after you so I'm very interested. Thanks!! :)
