You realise it'll be dark at 3:00 - 3:30 pm before it starts getting better again after 21 Dec...  :-X

This is a joke right?   :-\\\\

Nope - I remember it getting dark when I walked home from school as a kid (school finished at 3.20 p.m.)!

Just looked it up for this December and in Leeds, the earliest sunset this year is 3.45 p.m. (around December 10th). Up in Aberdeen, the sun will set at about 3.25 p.m. by mid-December, but down here in Exeter, the earliest sunset in December is at 4.10 p.m.

I keep saying year after year - I'm going to get a SAD light.  DH says if you can get out & walk while it's daylight, that's actually more effective, supposedly.  But if the weather is crap...  I'll see how I get on here in November.  The last couple of years were particularly hard because my mom was dying Nov/Dec 2008 & then died at Christmas.
You've had a rough few winters Mrs. R.  :(  Maybe this one will bring something extra wonderful.  A few more sunny days would certainly be nice.   :)

Autumn used to be my favorite time of year but I think that's because there were so many fun things to do and kids & grandkids are so much fun at Halloween/Thanksgiving/Christmas.  Now I miss them all so much that I seem to be in a constant blue mood.   :(  BUT.....   the sun is shining today and I've got laundry on the line so that always brings out a smile.   :)

You don't like an extra hour of sleep this weekend?!  ???

I never see it as an extra hour of sleep, more like an extra hour awake. Because I woke up on Sunday and got up, it was 8:30, had the clocks not gone back a hour it would have been 9:30.
I went to bed at my normal time last night, hence I was awake a hour longer!

One benefit though was I watched all the NFL game until it finished about 11ish rather than having to record the last hour as I usually do!

It was full dark when I left the house this morning at 6:30 AM -- very clear and cold -- but very dark!  We don't "fall back" until next weekend, so guess it's time to dig out my reflective gear!  It will soon be dark at both ends of the workday.  I don't care if I do look like an idiot with reflective armbands.   :-\\\\

Partly because its raining, but partly because the light is already bad, but it's quite dark outside now.

And I had to scrape ice off my car this morning! Winter is in full force.

Me too...I may ask for one for Xmas as this dark at 430 will do me in ;-/

We got one last year and it improved both of our moods. 20 minutes in the morning while drinking tea.

And tonight - it's the US's turn!  Back to the normal time difference from tomorrow...
