I can't shake this feeling that I've forgotten to do something properly, and I don't want my ignorance now to bite me in the bum later. What American affairs do you have to tend to when you move to the UK?
I turned off all utilities at my old US apartment. I paid all the final bills and closed all the accounts.
I ended my apartment lease, gave the keys back to the landlord, and got the deposit back.
I sold my car and paid off my car loan. The account is now closed.
I set up automatic payments for all my American bills (credit cards and student loans).
I changed my mailing address for my bank account, credit card accounts, retirement account, and student loan account.
I secured an accountant do to my taxes next year who is experienced doing foreign taxes for US citizens.
Anything else along these lines I've forgotten to do?
I know there isn't one universal list that will cover everyone, and everyone will have different needs and responsibilities to take care of; however, does anyone see a glaringly obvious/important thing that's relatively universal that I haven't done?
I'm a bit afraid that several years down the line, I'll get in trouble because someone will point out that X years ago, when I moved to the UK, I didn't properly fill out and submit a JN476-989B form... or something.
