I love the butter pecan syrup from IHOP!

Me too!  And I have a jug of some kind of butter pecan syrup in my cupboard right now.

We usually had Karo.

Same here - we got a choice:  light Karo or dark Karo.  :P
Ring the bells that still can ring
Forget your perfect offering
There is a crack, a crack in everything
That's how the light gets in...

I'm more of a crispy waffle fan myself, so I probably wouldn't be satisfied by anything not made in a proper waffle iron. (Tho, I would kill for a frozen Eggo just about now...)

Oh god, this post has just made me put "Waffles" on my "foods to consume" list for my trip to PA at Christmas... I want a real one AND an Eggo! Greed!

Oh! Pecan syrup. That reminds me of the boysenberry (or maybe it's blueberry?) syrup they also have in the States at some places. Man, I would kill for some of that on a big, crispy waffle.

My college dining hall had the best waffles I've ever tasted in my life. I used to wake up early on Saturdays with my roommates so we'd get down there before they ran out of batter. I think it had malt in it...or something else magic.

I am totally buying a waffle iron now that I've read this thread.  I was sad to put ours in storage, but had read that it was one of the items that just didn't do well, even with a transformer.

Even better -- my dad is bringing me some King Syrup (consistency of Karo, but molasses-ier) when he comes over in a few weeks.  Oh YEAH.  I like real-deal maple syrup well enough, but Log Cabin or King Syrup just tastes like childhood.  Mmmmmmmmmmm.

Hmmm, this intrigues me!

We were going to get a sandwich toaster anyway... I've never owned a waffle iron - does that look okay?

I tend to find that things that have multiple functions tend to do none of them very well.  :-\\\\  See if you can find one of these: http://www.belgianwafflemaker.org/

I'd want something like that if I were going to get one.  ;)

See, I already have more kitchen stuff than will actually fit in my kitchen. ;D so I liked the whole multiple function thing. You're right though, probably not the best.

Not so big on syrup -- but when I do have it it's gotta be the real maple stuff, thank you very much.  Often have a frozen waffle (blueberry maybe) with just a couple spoonfuls of unsweetened apple sauce and a load of cinnamon sugar on top.  I got some frozen sweet potato waffles that I haven't tried yet -- probably be good with the apple sauce.

ooh real maple syrup.  I use it on Wheatabix, too, and shredded wheat.  :D

I 'will' eat the Other Kind but I certainly don't prefer it.  I also have fond childhood memories of blueberry syrup on chocolate chip pancakes, so I will make an exception for that as well.   :D

We have a waffle iron from Germany, but we haven't made them for ages.  or pancakes, either..  really ought to one of these days!
