Returning Documents?
« on: November 02, 2010, 10:26:57 AM »
I'm sure I've seen this mentioned before...at least, it was mentioned for the US route of doing things, but not how things are handled here...

As far as all the documents I sent (proof of cohabitation, etc) if they need to keep anything to put in my file or whatever, they make a copy of it and still return my original, right?

Is there any reason they would keep the original of any of the documents I sent?

No reason for them to keep anything.

All my documents were returned even the notarised copy of our savings book and the LiUK test pass letter.

Very odd, they kept many documents of mine.  I assumed I would have them returned but about the only things returned were my pictures, my bank statements and my passport.  Hmmmm, wonder why?

We're talking about applications made INSIDE the UK not applications in the US.

For US Based applications if you're missing items then contact the Consulate that processed your application and specifically request them back. They would have kept your application, biometrics sheet, visa photos and any letters addressed to the ECO in support of your application (either employer letters, sponsor letters, letters regarding accommodation) and if you have a look everything else was probably returned.
