Did You Keep Original Paperwork?

Hi all,

I was wondering whether anyone could advise whether you kept your original PETS paperwork on your person and just gave copies to the airline to attach to your pet's crate. I'm flying with Continental and I'm scared the airline may lose/misplace the originals, in which case I'd only have copies when I arrive in the UK.

My pets flew without me, but the paperwork stayed with them at all times. I believe DEFRA needs all the original paperwork with your pet, so perhaps if you want a backup, you can carry copies on your person.

DEFRA and British Airways were both really good with both my boys, though. (They taped my paperwork to my pets' crates, so there was no way the pets and paperwork wouldn't arrive separately.)

They do this every day, they're used to handling things.

Equestrianerd is right, they need the originals. My dog flew with Virgin and they were great! They also taped his documents to his crate and I got them when he was picked up.

Agreeing in triplicate with the others -- originals go with the animals.  Paranoia meant I had copies of everything in hand, both electronically (scanned and saved to flash drive) and hard copies.

We flew Virgin and all paperwork was in a plastic envelope (like UPS/FedEx on the side of a package) taped to the top of the crate.  Everything came back to me once we got them at the ARC.
