How much to pay a babysitter hourly in the UK?
« on: November 11, 2010, 10:39:29 AM »
I know that this is asking for a wide variety of responses... and hopefully this is not contentious. But how much do people pay for their babysitters hourly? Do I go with the minimum wage for the UK-- which is £5.93 (from what I googled quickly).

Being that I'm doing something completely new--any advice about paying for a sitter would also be appreciated.

We are using daycare a few days a week, but we really need a babysitter for pinch-hitting every once and a while. And, if I could hire someone for just a few hours in order to get stuff done, I think I will.

Thank you in advance.

My daughter babysits for the neighbours and gets about £5 an hour - they round up or down depending upon length of sitting, lateness of return etc.
