Substitutions? Ingredients Pumpkin Pie
« on: November 15, 2010, 06:08:49 PM »
Alright this is my very favorite pumpkin pie recipe BUT I am short 1 box of vanilla pudding...
http://www.food.com/recipe/double-layer-pumpkin-pie-48158

What can I substitute as for the cool whip I will use the dream whip OR I may have to switch up my favorite recipe!

any ideas?

I always just use whipped cream as a sub for cool whip.

Vanilla pudding tastes a lot like pre-made custard to me, this stuff -

might be worth getting a little pot and seeing what you think  but it seems almost the same to me.

I saw somewhere recently (on here I think) about someone substituting Angel Delight for Dream Whip or pudding mix.  I think it was something that Racheeee posted about a cake!

I agree with CB on the custard. Since it calls for the pudding mix, maybe try some dried custard?

I've substituted Angel delight powder for pudding mix in a few recipes and it worked just fine!
